What is the COREvalues report?

Module 3 — Lesson 2

In this lesson you’ll learn:

  • The basic terms for understanding and explaining core values to clients

  • The different sections of this report

  • Insight into how this report can help you better understand your clients, and help them better understand themselves

What is the COREvalues report?

The COREvalues report begins by sharing the top five COREvalues of each member of the family. These individual reports include the values, their descriptions, and what “quadrant” the values belong to.

The report also includes the individual’s Quadrant Blend and COREstyle, which are based upon their top values and are fully explained at the bottom of each person’s individual report.

Next, the COREvalues report depicts the family’s shared COREvalues, allowing families the opportunity to see how their individual values align with their collective values.

Included with the shared values section is what we call the “family heat map.”  This heat map reflects each COREstyle and its placement within the four quadrants. Each family member is listed in the circle representing his or her COREstyle. The heat map gives families a visual of how their COREvalues fit together. Families can interact with the heat map, understanding their areas of unity and diversity.

In the report Appendix, you will find an in-depth explanation of the COREvalues heat map.

Also located in the Appendix are personalized ways to put the shared family values to work. The report uses the family’s shared COREvalues to provide recommendations for resourcing their values in financial and estate plans. The report provides general options families can discuss and then share with their advisor to determine measurable next steps.

The COREvalues survey and report allows advisors to authentically care for their clients by helping them investigate and discuss what is most important: our beliefs and values. Moreover, as advisors lead families through a values discussion, they help facilitate potentially new and different communication. Advisors help the generations converse, which creates a connection between the advisors and the next generation. As advisors help families explore options for resourcing their values in tangible ways, they gift their clients with actionable, intentional, personal next steps.

The COREvalues report can be used:

  • With brand new clients as an onboarding tool.

  • With newer clients as a follow-up to your traditional onboarding process.

  • With established clients to allow for deeper, more meaningful discussions.

  • With whole families, to effectively connect with each member of the family.

  • In family meetings to set financial goals and estate plans.
